2012 Dakar.
Each year The Boston Globe posts some great photos of The Dakar, this year is no exception. Even though the event seems to have become another casualty of French Rules it is still a fantastic spectacle.

I gave up watching it this year when Robby Gordon in a Hummer was disqualified for breaking rule FU2, that unwritten rule ensures that no foreign driver or team can challenge a French driver or team for the lead [thanks Autoblog], it's the same basic rule that was used in the Monte Carlo Rally when the Minis were disqualified for illegal headlamp globes. Jean Marie Ballestre often used it during his time as head of F1.
