Watsons Bay to Bondi walk.

Only 8 kms. in total but when you combine it with a ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay it covers some of the best harbour and coastal scenery in Sydney. This has the potential to be one of the best walks in Sydney but it needs more work and planning by the local council. Signposting is almost non existent so check it out on Google Maps before you go. Private property blocks the cliff walk in many places so you must go back to Military Rd. and then find the next street that connects to the track. We didn't check before we did the walk so had to backtrack quite a lot. There is almost no shade along the route, the Eastern Suburbs seem to have a no tree policy, even extending to street [non] planting. Regardless of these problems it is worth doing.

There are some beautiful homes in the southern beachside suburbs of Sydney but also some of the worst examples of council corruption you will find in this city, the following photo looks more like East Germany in the 1960's than Sydney in 2014. How this terrible building was ever approved in such a beautiful location is a mystery, it blocks the views from at least fifty single level homes behind it  and in a stroke of absolute genius the architect [Harry Seidler] has placed the balconies on the side facing away from the ocean. The photo makes it look to be in reasonable condition but close up it looks similar to what you would have seen in Eastern Europe before the wall came down.

Mid week at Bondi before the weekends crowds.

The 380 bus will take you back to Watsons Bay or into the city, we took the ferry back and watched Sydney's doctors, lawyers and plumbers at play.
